Once upon a time, way back there were ‘the three musketeers’ who were driven by the appetite for success. The trio studying in college 2nd year decided to the venture of street food business by putting up a small food cart; fast food lari and their basic purpose was to earn some decent amount of pocket-money.
Keeping it all like a secret recipe the trio managed to put up a small Chinese lari near Jhansi Ki Rani; Ahmedabad. The families were all unaware and three musketeers managed to borrow the initial capital for business from their beloved friends.
Food carts in those days were not something very prestigious & hence the venture was kept under the wraps concealed from the eyes of the families & parents. The secret venture continued for approximately 2-3 months but extracting the desired amount of pocket-money was no easy game. Realizing that money do not grow on trees and food carts, the dis-heartened trio decided ‘to cut their loses’ & put a full stop to the venture.
It was 2000 then when the mastermind behind the genesis of Jassi De Parathe; Jasvirsingh dhaliwal (Jassi as he is known) passed out from the college & coincidentally it was the same year when his father retired from his job. The post retirement phase brought along the money crunch and too many career related confusions. Jassi, Who was preparing for army then was in two minds and was stuck between the call from career and family responsibilities.
The two precious men, anmol ratan Ramesh & his elder brother Ajit bumped into, one day near Mansi Char Rasta Ahmedabad. The two who once worked as a cook for Jassi’s food truck were at present the owners of Chinese food lari near Swaminarayan Temple at Mansi Char Rasta. The three had an amicable conversation after years; Ramesh & Ajit suggested Jassi’s to open a paratha’s food cart right beside them.
Taking the idea on a serious note and giving a penny for the thought Jassi decided to make his food dreams come true. But this time he decided to adopt transparency and discussed it all with the family.
Rise for paratha’s popularity was increasing then. Understanding the gap between rising demand for authentic Punjabi food and its availability, the Kaur family responded affirmatively. The mother of the family & the father of the house collaboratively decided to support their son.
Jasvinder Kaur was always inspired by the authentic taste of Punjabi cuisine and mediocrity never satisfied her. Her palate was so superior that from the very first day at the new pushcart (lari) she allowed making no compromise with quality and the Kaur family pledged to offer their best. The mother of the family is the force behind the success of Jassi De Parathe. It might sound exaggerated but it is true that she personally buys the spices and supervises the grinding and mixing process to ensure the taste which she grew up with, is preserved. It’s the small details like not adding one particular spice in Gobhi Paratha and adding that same particular spice in aloo parathas which separates Jassi De Parathe making it stand out the crowd. All our Parathas are made from customized masala, under the supervision of Jasvinder Kaur who learned these secrets from her mother and mother in law.
The first outlet of Jassi de Parathe was established at Vastrapur lake which still remains to be the start-attraction of the locale. The strive to preserve its centuries old traditions besides offering comfortable modern interiors paired with hygienic methods of cooking has enabled Jassi de Parathe to become a landmark for the location. Jassi De Parathe has already established itself as the authentic Punjabi food restaurant in Ahmedabad. While our commitment to provide home cooked style food made under the supervision of the family ensure winning hearts of the growing food lovers.
